Churchill's Britain Foundation

History

Churchill’s Britain Foundation is the brainchild of Sir Winston Churchill’s great-grandson, Jonathan Sandys. The original concept was for Jonathan to visit educational and non-educational organizations and speak on the subject of his great-grandfather, but in 2009, on receiving a 501c3 status, Jonathan decided that more was required than just offering lectures to the hungry minds of the United States and Great Britain.

Mission

Churchill’s Britain Foundation exists to promote the idea of education not as it is but rather as it should be. Through the development of innovative, broad-scale outreach and initiatives, we aim to provide practical support to both students and educators, while constantly working to inspire an interest in history by engaging all people through the life lessons, morals, values and leadership skills of Sir Winston Churchill. For more information on Churchill's Britain Foundation, or the various educational programs we offer, please do be in touch.

Vision

Churchill’s Britain Foundation exists to promote the betterment of education initially in the United States and Great Britain, but our ultimate goal is to spread into the rest of the United States, Europe and then into the third world. It is a proven fact that one of the major causes of poverty is a lack of education. Winston Churchill once said that: “The world belongs to the highly educated…” Sadly, education today is, (in many aspects), no more than indoctrination. Students are pushed from fact-to-fact without explanation or debate. Critical thinking is not encouraged or indeed taught in many establishments and these failings are not the fault of the educators, the system has let students down. Children start their lives hungry and keen to learn but in many cases, by the time they get to middle or high school, their interest has dwindled in-favor of the latest computer game.

A prisoner of war is a man who tries to kill you and fails, and then asks you not to kill him.
-Winston Churchill
